Wow !!! Owners of all Android One smartphones have reportedly started receiving an official update from Google that brings Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to their devices. As you may know, Android One handsets are mainly sold in developing markets (by local companies linke spice, micromax, and lava). Thus, we're not surprised to find out that the first smartphone to get Android 6.0.1 is them only !

It's clear that Android 6.0.1 is major update in terms of performance and security but look wise it is similar to Android Lollipop 5.x.x, likely including many bug fixes. What we can say is that this isn't related to Google's monthly security updates, but they have also received a minor update some days before as part of Novembers security patch without changing the Android version number (all recent Nexus devices, including the new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, still run Android 6.0). Micromax got the update of 6.0 just after 2-3 days from when Nexus 5 received, which is Great. Just now Lava pixel is receiving Android 6 marshmallow update.

One of the best Feature of Android 6 Marshmallow is DOZE. It is inbuilt feature to improve battery performance which works great. Google is planning to roll out Android 6.1 Marshmallow, though this is expected to happen starting next year. So, Android 6.1 should be a more important update compared to 6.0.1 in terms of UI improvement and more secure.
